How We Control Quality
Quality in steel export is won or lost on the documentation. Our process is built to give you a paper trail that stands up in any market:
- Mill test certificate (MTC) — issued per heat number at the producing mill, stating chemical composition and mechanical properties.
- In-house dimensional and surface check — grade, thickness, width, length, zinc coating weight (g/m²) and surface condition verified on a sampling basis.
- Third-party inspection — SGS, BV or TUV witness and certify at your request, including container-loading supervision.
- Documents with the shipment — MTC, certificate of origin, packing list and B/L prepared in the exact format your customs and bank require.
Certificates & What They Mean for You
| Certificate | What it covers | What it means for your order |
|---|---|---|
| ISO 9001:2015 | Our quality management system | Proven process control from inquiry to shipment |
| EN 10204 3.1 MTC | Mill inspection certificate, issued by the mill’s independent QC | Accepted by EU and many national standards bodies for structural and pressure applications |
| EN 10204 2.2 MTC | Mill certificate, non-specific inspection | Used where 3.1 is not required — faster and lower cost |
| SGS / BV / TUV report | Third-party sampling, testing and loading supervision | An independent record you can show your customer or end client |
| RoHS | Restriction of hazardous substances | Required for galvanized and coated steel used in consumer or electrical products |
| CE marking (where applicable) | Conformity for products sold in the EEA | Needed for certain structural and construction products entering the EU |
| SONCAP / PVoC (on request) | Pre-shipment conformity for import | Mandatory for Nigeria, Kenya and several African markets |
Understanding EN 10204 3.1 vs 2.2
If your project specifies EN 10204 3.1, the certificate must be issued by a party independent of the producing department and traceable to the heat number — this is what inspectors and consultants ask for on structural and pressure work. 2.2 is issued by the mill’s own QC and is fine for general commercial applications. Tell us which one your client requires, and we will confirm it before we quote.
Third-Party Inspection at Loading
For high-value or first orders, we recommend loading supervision. An SGS or BV inspector counts pieces, checks marks and dimensions, photographs the container stuffing and issues a report — so what you ordered is what arrives.
If Quality Falls Short
If a delivered batch fails to meet the agreed specification, send us the third-party report and photos. We respond within 48 hours and resolve it with a replacement, a credit or a re-inspection at our cost. Our reputation is worth more than one container.
Need a Quotation for Your Project?
Send us the grade or standard, size, quantity and destination port. Our export team replies with a full quotation, usually within 12 hours.
