What to Include in Your Inquiry
To give you an accurate quotation rather than a vague price range, please include the following five points. Missing any of them is the most common reason a quote comes back slow or wrong:
- Product — what it is (e.g. hot rolled wire rod, U-type sheet pile, H-beam, PPGI coil, grade 8.8 bolts).
- Grade / Standard — the exact grade or standard, e.g.
SAE1008,Q235B,ASTM A36,S355JR,JIS G3302 SGCC. If your drawing uses a standard we do not list, send the drawing. - Size / Specification — dimensions and tolerance. Examples: wire rod 5.5 mm; sheet pile 400 x 125 x 13 mm; H-beam 200 x 200 x 8 x 12 mm; plate 6 mm x 1500 x 6000 mm; galvanized coil 0.5 mm x 1250 mm, Z275.
- Quantity — in tons, pieces or containers. Even an approximate volume (e.g. "about 500 tons" or "1 x 40HQ per month") helps us price correctly.
- Destination port — the port you want the goods delivered to (e.g. Lagos, Jebel Ali, Ho Chi Minh City, Santos). This decides the freight and whether we quote FOB, CFR or CIF.
Optional but useful: surface / coating (e.g. Z275, PPGI RAL colour), packing (in bundles, in containers, standard export packing), required delivery date, and any inspection or document requirement (SGS, BV, EN 10204 3.1, SONCAP).
A Good Inquiry Looks Like This
"Please quote 500 tons of Q235B H-beam 200 x 200 x 8 x 12 mm, 12 m length, standard export packing, CFR Lagos. Need SGS inspection and EN 10204 3.1 MTC. Delivery by end of next month."
