Product Overview
Hot rolled strip is rolled from a continuously cast slab and coiled while still hot, leaving a light mill scale finish and a low carbon structure that slits, forms and welds well. Its main role is feedstock – slit and roll formed into ERW round, square and rectangular tube, or pickled and then cold reduced into cold rolled coil and strip. Compared with plate it is thinner, and compared with a stop-start sheet line it arrives as a coil one uncoiler feeds continuously, so a tube mill or press runs without stopping to load blanks.

Applications
Slit and roll formed into water pipe, scaffold tube, fence posts and square hollow sections, or pickled and cold reduced into cold rolled coil. It is also blanked into wheel rims, drum lids, transformer tanks and general pressings. Tube mills in Africa, the Middle East and South America are the largest buyers, taking the 2.0-3.0 mm band as feedstock.
