Product Overview
Our SAE1008 wire rod is hot rolled from continuously cast low carbon billets and cooled on a Stelmor line, producing a fine uniform ferrite-pearlite structure and a light oxide scale that holds drawing lubricant well. Carbon is held between 0.06% and 0.12%, so the rod cold heads and draws without work hardening too fast – the reason nail plants and mesh welders specify SAE1008 instead of a general purpose Q235 rod. Every heat is cold upset tested and each coil is inspected for slivers, laps and rolled-in scale before packing.

Applications
Drawn into common nails, roofing nails and concrete nails, and used as the base material for welded wire mesh, chain link fencing, barbed wire and galvanized wire. Regular shipments go to fastener producers in Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Bangladesh and Vietnam, where a stable diameter keeps heading dies alive and stops mesh welding lines from mis-feeding.
